CANCER NEWS

It's been a busy news week. Thirty new stories about cancer research and policy developments have been added to cancerpage since the newsletter was mailed last Friday. The cancerpage.com news archive has nearly 5,200 news stories dating back to January 2000. There are several methods of finding the news you want:
- To get a full listing, in chronological order sorted from most recent to oldest, click on Search in the left nav bar of the home page. Leave the search field blank and click on Submit.
- For news about a certain cancer type, go to the homepage and click on that cancer's page. Then click on Latest News in the left nav bar. You will get a rundown of news stories relevant only to that type of cancer.
- If you are interested in seeing what's been written about cancer and nutrition, or about complementary or alternative cancer treatments or 16 other special topic areas including Pain, Finances, Caregivers, Sexuality, and Managed Care, click on Latest News in the left nav bar of the home page. The 18 specialized topic areas are listed on the right-hand side of the cancerpage News page.

HOW DOES YOUR STATE RANK?

The National Cancer Institute this week released state-by-state cancer incidence rates. One of the states with the highest incidence rates was Massachusetts. But the head of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute told the Boston Herald he's not concerned. He believes good screening and an active registry program. not necessary higher state specific risks, explain his state's high rate.

E-CARDS FOR CANCER SURVIVORS

Want to send a note of encouragement or just brighten the day of someone facing a difficult time? OrthoBiotech has teamed up with Yahoo!Greetings to sponsor e-cards by and for cancer survivors. The cards contain an inspirational message and artwork by cancer survivors AND an animated advertisement for Ortho's anti-anemia drug PROCRIT. Yahoo tells cancerpage recipient email addresses are not saved anywhere so you don't have to worry that targeted advertisements will soon follow the email you sent to inspire.

Check it out at the URL http://greetings.yahoo.com/cards/art-of-healing
